About Economic Gardening...

Pueblo County's Economic Gardening Program is an economic development arm of Pueblo County's Geographic Information Systems Department. This program exists to help ensure the economic health of the community by empowering entrepreneurs to create good-paying jobs. We provide advanced, corporate level tools for any Pueblo County businesses. We provide market research, competitor intelligence, industry trends, marketing lists, strategy development, web optimization and customized research for any business inside the county limits at no charge.

The concept of Economic Gardening originated in Littleton, Colorado in 1987. Since that time, the nation has been watching Littleton and measuring their program's success, noting that they have completely revitalized their local economy and have become a model for economic development around the globe.

Pueblo County GIS started our Economic Gardening pilot program in January 2006. Since then, our tools and methods have become increasingly sophisticated, and we assist several businesses per week. We've tracked many new jobs forming in Pueblo at businesses who have obtained our market & demographic information, and a number of local entrepreneurs visit us numerous times with increasingly sophisticated questions.

We rely heavily upon information provided by ESRI's Business Analyst, a very robust (and often complex) Geographic Information Systems application to provide detailed market information to businesses. We have a number of other tools at our disposal, and offer the same services to Pueblo County businesses that big-name retailers spend millions of dollars to obtain. Whether your business is looking to expand locally within Pueblo County, or to take things to a nationwide level, our tools can save you a tremendous amount of time and money - all free of charge.

Furthermore, we have developed numerous partnerships with organizations throughout our community. By building a strong network of local resources available to businesses, we are able to plug entrepreneurs into numerous community assets to help them succeed.

So, how does this program work? Give us a call to make an appointment with our staff. We will meet business owners for about an hour in a "strategy session," to identify how best we can help your business grow and succeed. Depending upon your needs, we will generate reports, identify your core and developing customers, analyze your website and marketing materials, recommend appropriate marketing strategies to reach your target customers and identify potential real-estate opportunities (both inside Pueblo County and nationwide) where your business will have the best chance at success.
